Terms of Use
What tldr is
tldr is a public record of Terms of Service, Privacy Policies, and other legal documents. We track changes to these documents over time and publish plain-language summaries written by a language model and reviewed by a second model. The summaries are informational. The original linked documents are always available and are the authoritative source.
What tldr is not
tldr does not provide legal advice. The site and its browser extension are not a substitute for reading the original documents. Do not rely on tldr summaries as your only source of information about a company's policies.
No accounts
There are no user accounts on tldr. Anyone can visit the site and use the public API without registration or login.
Public API
Free for personal and research use
The public API is free for personal research and analysis. You may use it to check if we track a company (GET /api/v1/lookup) or to request that we add a new company (POST /api/v1/requests).
Rate limits
The API is rate limited to prevent abuse: 120 lookups per minute per IP address, 20 tracking requests per hour per IP address, and 50 tracking requests per day per domain. Over the limit, the API answers 429 with a Retry-After header.
No bulk copying
You may not use the API to bulk-copy the entire corpus of documents or reviews without permission. If you want to do large-scale research or data analysis, contact us athello@xo.vision.
Attribution
If you reuse tldr data publicly, please attribute tldr and link to the original page.
No warranty
tldr is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not guarantee that: the site will be available at all times, summaries are accurate or complete, documents are up-to-date, or the API will meet your needs.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, tldr and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the site, extension, or API, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Third-party documents
Copyright position
The documents shown here are published by their companies for the public to read and rely on. We keep a copy so that we can show, word for word, what changed and when. We quote from them for comparison, criticism and reporting, and we always link the original. The full text of a document is not shown on our indexed pages; it sits on a separate page that search engines are told not to index, reachable from the document's change history. If you own a document and object to our copy, use our removal-requests page: we withhold the full text within three business days of a valid request and say so publicly.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced on this page with an updated effective date.
