Privacy Policy

Valnet added a new section to its Privacy Policy disclosing that it now tracks email opens and clicks using tracking pixels and links, collecting your email address, the campaign/link you interacted with, timestamps, and sometimes your IP address and device information. This data is used to decide who keeps receiving emails and to infer your approximate location and device type for targeted content like country-specific contests or ads. The policy states this data is not sold or shared with outside companies for their own use. The 'Last Updated' date was also refreshed.

Valnet now tracks whether and when you open its emails and click links inside them, using invisible tracking pixels and tagged links. It can also collect your IP address and device information from these interactions and use that to guess your country and device type in order to target you with specific content, contests, or ads. This is a new form of behavioral tracking that wasn't disclosed before. While Valnet says it won't hand this data to outside companies, it's still a meaningful expansion of what's being watched about your email activity.

What you can do — If you don't want to be tracked, avoid opening marketing emails or clicking links in them, or unsubscribe from Valnet's newsletters. You can also contact Valnet to withdraw consent or request deletion of this tracking data, as described in the policy's 'Your Rights' section.

  1. + ADDEDNew disclosure: email tracking pixels and click tracking

Valnet added a new entry describing that it collects data on when you open or click links in its email newsletters, using a hidden tracking pixel and tracking links. This includes your email address, which campaign/link you interacted with, the date and time, and sometimes your IP address and device type. The company says this is used to measure engagement, decide who continues receiving emails, and estimate your country and device type to show location- or device-based content like contests or ads. It states this data isn't shared with outside companies for their own purposes, only used internally and by its email-sending vendor, and is kept only as long as needed.
