About Your Subscription

Two changes appear in this update. USA TODAY added a line to the Digital Access section spelling out subscription term lengths: annual terms run 1 year, and monthly terms run 4 weeks rather than a calendar month. Separately, two dates were added to the 2026 non-print days list for print subscribers (12/24 and 12/31), bringing that list from 8 days to 10. This review covers only these two changes.

Four weeks is 28 days, which is shorter than almost every calendar month. If you are on a monthly plan, you can expect about 13 charges over a year instead of 12, and your billing date will keep sliding earlier on the calendar. This matters for cancelling too: the same section says you must cancel before the plan automatically renews, and that Gannett does not give credits, refunds, or prorated billing if you cancel in the middle of a period. So the deadline to cancel without paying for another period arrives sooner than a calendar month would suggest.

“The subscription term for annual subscriptions is 1 year and the subscription term for monthly subscriptions is 4 weeks.”

What you can do — Check your card or bank statement for the actual charge dates and count how often you are billed. If you plan to cancel, contact customer service before the next 4-week term renews — there is no partial refund once a new period starts.

Print subscribers will not get a printed paper on two additional days: December 24 and December 31, 2026. That is 10 non-print days for the year instead of 8. The change on its own is small and applies only to print delivery, but it means slightly less of what a print subscription delivers.

“Non-Print Days 2026: 1/1, 5/25, 7/4, 9/7, 10/12, 11/11, 11/26, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31”

What you can do — If you are a print subscriber, note the two added dates (12/24 and 12/31) so a missing paper on those days is not reported as a delivery problem.

+ ADDED"Monthly" subscriptions are defined as 4-week terms

A new line says an annual subscription term is 1 year and a monthly subscription term is 4 weeks. A 4-week cycle is shorter than a calendar month, so a "monthly" plan bills about every 28 days — roughly 13 times a year instead of 12 — and the charge date moves earlier each cycle.

2425- Automatic Renewal & Billing: You authorize us to automatically charge your payment method on a recurring basis at the introductory and other rates indicated, subject to future price increases at the expiration of your then current subscription term, for the duration of your subscription or until you notify us otherwise. Any outstanding balance will be processed with your first charge.
2526- Cancellation: If at any time you decide to cancel your subscription, which you can do at any time, you may contact customer service. You must cancel your subscription before it automatically renews for a subsequent period to avoid being charged for the next period's subscription fee. If you timely cancel your subscription, the cancellation will become effective at the end of the then current subscription period. Gannett does not provide credits, refunds, or prorated billing for any subscription cancelled mid-period. In such a circumstance you will continue to have access to your subscription for the remainder of the subscription period. We reserve the right, however, to issue refunds or credits at our sole discretion. If we issue a refund or credit in one instance, we are under no obligation to issue the same refund or credit in the future.
2627- New York Residents: If we increase your subscription price, you may cancel within 14 days after the price increase takes effect and receive a prorated refund for the unused portion of your subscription term.
