Privacy Policy
Rightmove's September 2026 privacy policy update adds three new ways your data is used for advertising and AI: it now says AI Conversational Search chats are linked to your account/device ID and may be used to personalize your experience and improve the AI; it adds a new Meta 'pixel tracking' section that shares your browsing behavior with Meta for ad targeting; and it adds a new section allowing Rightmove to share a hashed version of your email with Meta to match you for targeted ads. All other changes are date stamps or minor reformatting.
AI chat logs now explicitly tied to your account and used to personalize and improve the AI
Previously the policy only mentioned privacy safeguards for AI chat data. Now it explicitly says your conversations are linked to a persistent or account-level ID, used to personalize your experience, and reviewed by staff and used to test/improve the AI over time. This is a broader use of your AI search data than before, even though Rightmove says it's not used to train its core AI models.

What you can do — If you'd rather your AI search activity not be tied to your account or reviewed for improvement purposes, avoid using the AI Conversational Search feature or avoid entering personal details into it.
New Meta pixel tracking shares your site activity with Meta for ad targeting
Rightmove added a new disclosure that, with your consent to marketing cookies, it tracks pages you visit and actions you take on its site and shares this with Meta (Facebook/Instagram) to measure ads, build audience lists, and retarget you with ads. Meta is named as a 'joint controller,' meaning it can use this data under its own privacy rules too.

What you can do — Opt out by declining or disabling 'marketing cookies' in Rightmove's cookie preference settings at any time.
New sharing of a hashed version of your email with Meta for ad matching
Rightmove added a new section allowing it to share a scrambled ('hashed') version of your email address with Meta so Meta can match it to your Facebook or Instagram account and serve you Rightmove ads. This is a new way your contact information is used to identify and target you on outside platforms.

What you can do — Opt out using Rightmove's unsubscribe or marketing preference settings, or manage ad matching directly in your Meta account's ad settings.
