Cookie Policy
OpenAI's Cookie Policy added several new cookies, including a new anonymous ad-tracking ID (oai-anon-id), a new third-party marketing cookie from Impact (im_ref), and consent/permission-tracking cookies. It also doubled the lifespan of its 'oai-did' device ID cookie from 1 year to 2 years, extended a few Cloudflare security cookies to its ads.openai.com domain, and slightly lengthened a load-balancer cookie's session.
Device ID cookie now stays on your device twice as long
OpenAI doubled how long its 'oai-did' device identifier cookie lasts, from 1 year to 2 years. This means the identifier tied to your device sticks around for longer before it expires on its own.

New long-lived anonymous ID cookie added on OpenAI's ads domain
OpenAI added a brand-new cookie, oai-anon-id, that creates an anonymous ID lasting 2 years on its advertising domain (ads.openai.com). This gives OpenAI a new, long-lasting way to recognize your device in connection with ads.

A new third-party marketing company now sets a tracking cookie
A company called Impact now sets a cookie (im_ref) on chatgpt.com for 7 days to measure marketing/referral activity. This is a new third party involved in tracking your visit.

A new cookie, marketing_consent_source, records information related to your marketing consent choice and lasts 180 days.
