Privacy Policy

MATERIAL
FIRST SEEN 2026-08-11 · VERSION 20260811_rev01 · FIRST CAPTURED VERSION

What changed, in plain language

How reviews are made

This update shows the entire privacy policy as new text, which almost certainly means the previous snapshot captured nothing rather than that Font Awesome rewrote its policy — the document itself still says it took effect November 11, 2024. So treat this as a first full record of the policy, not a list of fresh changes. The notable points in the recorded text: Font Awesome says it does not sell your data, but a later Data Privacy Framework section describes the "sale" of personal information, which is a contradiction worth watching. The policy also covers location data, cross-site tracking by third-party services, no response to Do Not Track, an agreement to binding arbitration for Data Privacy Framework matters, and the company's right to update the policy and its list of service providers at any time.

Changes that may affect you

Mixed messages about selling your dataMATERIAL
DATA SHARING

The main policy plainly says Font Awesome does not sell or give your information to other companies. But the Data Privacy Framework section says it covers the "collection, use, sale, and sharing" of your personal information. Those two cannot both be fully true, and the broader wording is the one that governs in a dispute. Since the whole document was recorded at once, we can't tell whether this wording is new or was always there.

“collection, use, sale, and sharing of the personal information”

What you can do — Email privacy@fontawesome.com or dpo@awesome.me and ask them to confirm in writing whether any personal information is sold or shared for advertising, and ask them to opt you out.

Location data, profile details, and cross-site trackingMATERIAL
DATA COLLECTION

The policy allows collection of location data, your name, email, and social media handle, purchase history, and detailed site-use data, and says it can be used for advertising and marketing. It also warns that outside services it uses may track what you do on other websites, and that Font Awesome ignores the Do Not Track setting in your browser.

“Some of these services may be used to collect information about your online activities across different websites.”

What you can do — Use the "Cookie Preferences" link in the site footer, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser extension, and browse fontawesome.com without logging in when you don't need an account.

You agree to binding arbitration for Data Privacy Framework issuesMINOR
FORCED ARBITRATION

Just by using the services, you agree that disputes about the EU-U.S., UK, or Swiss Data Privacy Framework go to binding arbitration. This is narrow — it only covers those framework issues, it kicks in after free dispute resolution through JAMS fails, and you are the one who starts it, so it mostly adds a path rather than taking one away. It still means a private arbitrator, not a judge, decides those claims.

“all matters relating to the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (EU-U.S. DPF), the UK Extension to the EU-U.S. DPF, and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (Swiss-U.S. DPF) shall be subject to binding arbitration”

What you can do — If you are in the EU, UK, or Switzerland and have a privacy complaint, start with the free JAMS process at jamsadr.com/DPF-Dispute-Resolution or complain to your national data protection authority before considering arbitration.

Policy and vendor list can change without telling youMINOR
UNILATERAL CHANGES

Font Awesome can update this policy whenever it wants and expects you to check the page yourself. It can also change its contact information and the list of outside companies handling your data without announcing anything, so new data processors can be added quietly.

“Font Awesome may update [its contact information](https://fontawesome.com/privacy) and [list of service providers](https://fontawesome.com/privacy) without announcing a change.”

What you can do — Check fontawesome.com/privacy yourself now and then if you care which companies handle your data.

Logs can be kept longer, and statistics are kept foreverMINOR
DATA RETENTION

Identifiable log data is normally deleted after a few weeks, but Font Awesome can hold it longer for investigations, with no stated limit. Aggregate statistics are kept forever, though the policy says those cannot be tied back to you personally.

“In special circumstances, like extended investigations about technical attacks, Font Awesome may preserve log data longer, for analysis.”
This policy overrides the other privacy policiesMINOR
OTHER

The Data Privacy Framework section says its terms supplement and amend Font Awesome's other policies. So where the plain-language questions and answers at the top conflict with the denser legal section at the bottom, the legal section wins.

“The terms herein supplement and amend our other policies, including but not necessarily limited to any of our other privacy policies.”

Changelog

  1. + ADDEDWhole policy recorded for the first time

Every line shows up as added. The prior snapshot appears to have been empty or unreadable, so nothing can be compared. The policy's own effective date is still November 11, 2024, so the terms below are likely not new.

This version of Font Awesome's privacy questions and answers took effect November 11, 2024.

  2. + ADDEDWhat data is collected and why

The policy lists cookies and server logs on fontawesome.com, records of which icon files you download from its content delivery networks, account details (email required, name and company optional), and payment card data handled by outside processors. A later section adds identifiers like your social media handle, purchase history, site-use data, and location data, used for purposes including advertising and marketing.

    Geolocation data.

  3. + ADDEDSays it does not sell your data, but also describes "sale"

One section says Font Awesome does not sell or give your information to other companies. A later section describes the policy as covering the "collection, use, sale, and sharing" of your personal information. The two statements do not line up.

collection, use, sale, and sharing of the personal information

  4. + ADDEDOutside services may track you across websites

Font Awesome uses third-party services (including Google Analytics, PostHog, Cloudflare, and payment processors) that may collect data on their own, including your activity on other sites. Font Awesome does not honor the browser Do Not Track signal, though you can set cookie preferences and use a Google Analytics opt-out extension.

Some of these services may be used to collect information about your online activities across different websites.

  5. + ADDEDHow long data is kept

Identifiable log data is usually kept a few weeks, but may be kept longer during investigations of technical attacks. Account data is kept as long as your account is open, and canceling a Pro subscription starts deletion. Anonymous aggregate statistics are kept forever.

Font Awesome stores aggregate statistics about use of the website indefinitely

  6. + ADDEDData Privacy Framework section with binding arbitration

A long section explains Font Awesome's participation in the EU-U.S., UK, and Swiss Data Privacy Frameworks. It offers free dispute resolution through JAMS, and says that by using the services you agree that Data Privacy Framework matters go to binding arbitration if that dispute process fails.

An independent dispute resolution body is available to address complaints and provide recourse free of charge to you

  7. + ADDEDYour rights and how to use them

You can view and change account data in your account page, download a copy of everything Font Awesome has on you, ask to correct or delete data, and opt out of your data being shared with a third party or used for a new purpose by emailing the company.

You can download a copy of all the data Font Awesome currently has about you

  8. + ADDEDCompany can update the policy and its vendor list without notice

Font Awesome says it may change the policy and asks you to check back yourself. It can also change its contact details and its list of outside service providers without announcing it.

We may update and make changes to this policy, so we encourage you to review it periodically.

  9. + ADDEDData can be handed over to authorities

If Font Awesome gets a lawful request such as a subpoena, it must comply and may hand over your personal information even if you would rather it did not.

In the event we receive a lawful request by a public or legal authority, such as a subpoena, we are required to abide by such requests
