Eventbrite Privacy Policy

SERIOUS
DATED 2026-09-15 · VERSION 20260917_rev01 · COMPARED WITH 20260821_rev01

What changed, in plain language

How reviews are made

Eventbrite's privacy policy update on September 15, 2026 adds a full framework for organizer text-message marketing: it now collects your phone number and detailed consent records when you opt in to an organizer's texts, briefly collects your birth date to verify age for certain events, and shares your phone number with organizers who can keep and use it on their own, outside Eventbrite's control. Eventbrite states it does not sell this opt-in data to third parties, but warns that opting out through Eventbrite may not stop an organizer from texting you independently. Most other edits are wording clarifications and typo fixes.

Changes that may affect you

Organizers can keep and reuse your phone number even after you opt out through EventbriteSERIOUS
DATA SHARING

Once you give an organizer your phone number through Eventbrite's text-marketing opt-in, the organizer can save it and text you on its own, outside of Eventbrite's system. If you try to opt out through Eventbrite (like replying STOP), that might not actually stop messages the organizer sends independently — you'd have to contact the organizer directly.

“The Organizer may retain and use its copy of your phone number independently, subject to applicable law and its privacy policy. Eventbrite does not control messages the Organizer sends outside the Services. An opt-out processed through Eventbrite may not stop those messages.”

What you can do — If you no longer want texts from an organizer, reply STOP to stop Eventbrite-sent messages, but also contact the organizer directly to make sure they delete your number and stop messaging you on their own.

Eventbrite now collects your phone number and detailed logs of your text-marketing consentMATERIAL
DATA COLLECTION

If you give your phone number or opt into an organizer's text messages, Eventbrite will now store your number along with records of when and how you consented, what messages were sent, and any opt-out requests you made.

“we may collect your telephone number and, as applicable, records relating to marketing consent. Consent records may include the date, time, method, applicable disclosures, message activity, and opt-out requests.”

What you can do — If you'd rather not have this tracked, skip entering a phone number or opting into text marketing during event registration.

Eventbrite keeps a record that you verified your age, even after deleting your birth dateMINOR
DATA RETENTION

To let you sign up for text marketing on age-restricted events, Eventbrite may ask for your birth date. It says it deletes the actual date afterward, but it keeps a permanent record that you were asked and whether you passed the age check.

“We may retain a record that age information was provided and whether you satisfied the applicable age requirement.”

Changelog

  1. ± CHANGEDPolicy date updated

The 'Last Updated' date changed from August 20, 2026 to September 15, 2026.

    **Last Updated**: August 20, 2026

    **Last Updated**: September 15, 2026

  2. + ADDEDNew collection of phone numbers and text-marketing consent records

If you give your phone number during event registration or opt into an organizer's text marketing, Eventbrite now says it will collect your number plus records of how and when you consented, what messages you got, and your opt-out requests.

If you opt in to marketing text messages from a particular Organizer or otherwise provide your phone number during event registration, we may collect your telephone number and, as applicable, records relating to marketing consent. Consent records may include the date, time, method, applicable disclosures, message activity, and opt-out requests.

  3. + ADDEDBirth date collected to verify age for age-restricted text marketing

For certain age-restricted events, Eventbrite may now ask for your date of birth to confirm you meet an age requirement before you can subscribe to text marketing. It says it deletes the actual birth date afterward but keeps a record that verification happened and whether you passed.

To subscribe to marketing text messages for certain age-restricted events, we may ask you to provide your date of birth to determine whether you satisfy an applicable age requirement. We do not retain your date of birth or precise age after completing this verification. We may retain a record that age information was provided and whether you satisfied the applicable age requirement.

  4. ± CHANGED'Organizer Emails' section renamed and expanded to cover texts

Section 4.5 was renamed from 'Organizer Emails' to 'Organizer Communications' and now explains that if you opt into an organizer's marketing texts, your phone number becomes available to that organizer, in addition to your email.

    **4.5 Organizer Emails.**

If you opt in to an Organizer's marketing texts through Eventbrite, your phone number is available to that Organizer.

  5. + ADDEDOrganizer can keep and use your phone number on its own

A new passage explains that once an organizer receives your phone number, it can retain and use it independently of Eventbrite, under its own privacy policy, and Eventbrite doesn't control or guarantee it can stop messages the organizer sends outside Eventbrite's system.

The Organizer may retain and use its copy of your phone number independently, subject to applicable law and its privacy policy. Eventbrite does not control messages the Organizer sends outside the Services. An opt-out processed through Eventbrite may not stop those messages.

  6. + ADDEDClarification that Eventbrite won't sell opt-in text data

Eventbrite added a statement that it does not sell or share your mobile opt-in or consent data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing, and that service providers may only use it to run the messaging service.

Eventbrite does not sell or share mobile opt-in or consent data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

  7. − REMOVEDRemoved general mobile-message disclosure

An older, vaguer sentence noting you might get 'informational messages' after giving your phone number was removed and replaced with the more detailed rules described above.

Likewise, if you provide your mobile phone number, you may receive information messages related to the service, event, activity or information in which you've expressed interest.

  8. + ADDEDNew 'Text Messages' opt-out subsection added

A new subsection explains that organizers can send marketing texts through Eventbrite's tools, that replying STOP unsubscribes you from all organizers' texts sent through Eventbrite, and links to a separate SMS Terms of Service page. It repeats that this opt-out won't stop messages an organizer sends outside Eventbrite's system.

Text Messages: Organizers may use our text messaging tools to send marketing text messages to Consumers who have chosen to receive them from that Organizer. The Organizer selects the recipients and chooses messages from options Eventbrite provides. Eventbrite sends those messages on the Organizer's behalf. You may opt out by replying STOP or using available preference controls.

  9. ± CHANGEDMinor typo fixes

Fixed 'tool thats' to 'tools that' and a stray quotation mark in the Third Party Organizers definition.

The Organizer may use tool thats we provide

The Organizer may use tools that we provide

101101If you engage with the Eventbrite sales team we may collect the following: your name, email, address, phone number, and other professional contact information. 119119**4.4 Eventbrite and Organizer Marketing.**
120120
121121We may use your Personal Data for our marketing and advertising purposes, including (without limitation) by email, SMS marketing, display media, and targeting other devices (such as tablets, mobile devices and televisions). We do this in order to inform you about services or events we believe might be of interest to you, develop promotional or marketing materials and display Eventbrite or event-related content and advertising on or off the Services that we believe might be of interest to you. We may also do this on behalf of an Organizer, for example where your prior interactions with an Organizer suggest you may be interested in a particular type of event. See "Opt Out from Electronic Communications" below on how to opt out of various Eventbrite marketing communications.
122122
123123You may see advertisements for our Services on third party websites, including on social media platforms. We also provide Organizers with tools to help them display advertisements for their events on third party websites and social media platforms. Where you see an advertisement on a third party website or social media platform, this may be because we or the Organizer engaged the third party or social media platform to show the advertisement to Users, or to others who have similar attributes to our Users. In some cases, this involves sharing your email address or other contact details with the third party or social media platform so that they can identify you as one of our Users, or identify other individuals with similar attributes to you in order to show them advertisements for our Services (or for our Organizer's events). If you no longer want your Personal Data to be used for these purposes please contact us at privacy@eventbrite.com. In the case of an Organizer's advertising, you may need to contact the Organizer directly. For more information about how we and Organizers market on, and interact with social media sites, please refer to [section 5.6](https://www.eventbrite.com/help/en-us/articles/460838/eventbrite-privacy-policy/).

125**4.5 Organizer Emails.**
125**4.5 Organizer Communications.**
126126
127We allow Organizers to use our email tools to contact Consumers for their current and past events, so you may receive emails from our system that originate with such Organizers and that we send on their behalf. If you registered for an event on the Services, or chose to receive marketing communications from an Organizer, your email address is available to that Organizer. However, Organizers may also import the email addresses they have from external sources and send communications through the Services to those email addresses, and we will deliver those communications to those email addresses on the Organizer's behalf. The Organizer and not Eventbrite is responsible for sending these emails. See "Opt Out from Electronic Communications" below on how to opt out of Organizer-initiated communications.

132
129133**4.6 Use of Interest-Based Data.**
130134
131135We sometimes make inferences about the type of events or activities you may be interested in based on information you provide in your Eventbrite profile, events attended, and your use of the Services. We may use these inferences to help target advertising or customize recommendations to you, including on behalf of Organizers. We may do this on an individualized basis, or an aggregated or generalized basis. For instance, we may determine that users who follow an organizer's events collection are more likely to attend future events from that organizer and organizers who host similar events. We may direct (or assist in directing) content or recommendations related to that organizer or similar organizers.
132136
133137**4.7 Other Purposes.**
134138
155159**5.4 Agents, Consultants and Service Providers.**
156160
157161We may share your Personal Data with our contractors and service providers who process Personal Data on behalf of Eventbrite to perform certain business-related functions. These companies include our marketing agencies, online advertising providers, data enhancement and data services providers, database service providers, backup and disaster recovery service providers, email service providers, payment processing partners, customer support, tech support, hosting companies and others. When we engage another company to perform such functions, we may provide them with information, including Personal Data, in connection with their performance of such functions.
158162
159163**5.5 Organizers.**
160164
161In addition, when you register for an event, sign up for communications, enter a contest, or otherwise input your Personal Data (such as through a web form) to communicate with an Organizer or participate in an Organizer event, that Organizer will receive that information. For instance, if you input your name and email address into a web form for an Organizer offer, activity or event, the Organizer will receive that information. The Organizer may then send you marketing or other communications, which may be subject to its own, separate privacy policy. Likewise, if you provide your mobile phone number, you may receive information messages related to the service, event, activity or information in which you've expressed interest.

The Organizer may then send you marketing or other communications, which may be subject to its own, separate privacy policy.
162166
163When you purchase tickets to, register for or donate to an event, transfer an event ticket or registration to another person, enter a contest, or otherwise input your Personal Data (such as through a web form), or otherwise communicate with an Organizer, or participate in or express interest in an Organizer or Organizer event or activity, that Organizer will receive the information you provide, including your Personal Data, and where a ticket or registration is transferred, the Personal Data of the transferee as well. Other third parties that are involved in or on whose behalf an event or activity is promoted, may receive that Personal Data as well. For example, as to fundraising pages, we may provide your Personal Data both to the Organizer charity of the fundraising page and the Organizer of the event to which the fundraising page is linked. In some instances, an Organizer may appoint a third party, which may or may not be affiliated with the Organizer, to create an event or fundraising page on its behalf (we call these third parties ("Third Party Organizers").
167Where an Organizer configures event registration to request a mobile phone number, the Organizer receives that number as part of the event-registration information. If you subscribe to an Organizer's marketing text messages, Eventbrite separately records your subscription and sends promotional updates and reminders on the Organizer's behalf. Eventbrite does not sell or share mobile opt-in or consent data with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Service providers may process this data only as necessary to operate and support the messaging service.
164168
169The Organizer may retain and use its copy of your phone number independently, subject to applicable law and its privacy policy. Eventbrite does not control messages the Organizer sends outside the Services. An opt-out processed through Eventbrite may not stop those messages. Contact the Organizer directly about its independent use of your Personal Data.
170
171When you purchase tickets to, register for or donate to an event, transfer an event ticket or registration to another person, enter a contest, or otherwise input your Personal Data (such as through a web form), or otherwise communicate with an Organizer, or participate in or express interest in an Organizer or Organizer event or activity, that Organizer will receive the information you provide, including your Personal Data, and where a ticket or registration is transferred, the Personal Data of the transferee as well. Other third parties that are involved in or on whose behalf an event or activity is promoted, may receive that Personal Data as well. In some instances, an Organizer may appoint a third party, which may or may not be affiliated with the Organizer, to create an event or fundraising page on its behalf (we call these third parties "Third Party Organizers").
172
165173For example, and without limitation, a concert venue (the Organizer, in this case) may allow third party promoters or production companies (the Third Party Organizers) to create events that will be hosted at the Organizer's venue using its Eventbrite account. In that case, we may provide your Personal Data to the Third Party Organizers on behalf of the Organizers. The same is true for contests and sweepstakes: we may provide your Personal Data to both the Organizer promoting the contest or sweepstakes, and any legal sponsor of the contest or sweepstakes (such as a brand sponsor).
166174
167175We are not responsible for the actions of these Organizers, or their Third Party Organizers (or other downstream recipients of your Personal Data), with respect to your Personal Data. It is important that you review the applicable policies of the Organizers, and if applicable and available, their appointed Third Party Organizers, of an event (and the related fundraising page, if applicable) before providing Personal Data or other information in connection with that event or related fundraising page. Similarly, if you are a member of an Organizer's organization within Eventbrite, your Personal Data will be available to the Organizer and shared with those Third Party Organizers granted permission by the Organizer to view all members of the Organizer's organization.
